A Tale of Two Families

Group Work

Objective:

Students will compare and contrast the Tavener and Alton families.

Common Core Standards:

CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.CCRA.R.1, CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.SL.9-10.4

Structure:

Split students into small groups. Each group must work together to create two Venn diagrams. One diagram should detail the similarities and differences between the two families. The other should detail the similarities and differences in their homes, as described by the book.

Groups will present their diagrams to the class.

Discuss the following as a group, with reference to the diagrams:

- What is real wealth? Does it require money? Why or why not?
