Why does Burke put a face hugger in Ripley and Newt's room?

Ripley has fallen asleep with Newt and when she wakes up a face hugger is attacking them. They aren't able to get out of the room because the doors are locked. We learn that Burke has locked them in with the face hugger in order to get the aliens to to impregnate them with eggs he can bring back to earth. And that is the reason he's put a face hugger in the room with them.

What causes Bishop to find a new plan to get off the planet?

The spaceship that was en route to take the crew off the planet has crashed and been destroyed. This means that the crew will have to wait 17 days before another ship comes to rescue them. But Bishop sees that that wrecked ship did major damage to the colony's nuclear reactor. So much so that the crew now only has four hours left before a nuclear explosion will tear them apart. This causes Bishop to find a new way to get them off the planet.

How does Ripley defeat the Queen?

Ripley and a few members of the crew have survived the colony and got onto a ship. But the Queen has stowed away and attacks Bishop, ripping him in half. Ripley puts on an exosuit and fights the Queen. She is able to defeat it by pushing it out through an airlock and the Queen is sucked out into space. This leaves Ripley, Newt, the badly damaged Bishop (who is artificial intelligence) and Hicks alive at the end of the film.
