What do you think of the book's ending? Are you disappointed that it was "all just a dream"?
Students should discuss their experience of the "it was all a dream" trope and why it is often a disappointing way to end a story. Does it make the events of the novel seem less "real"? Does Wonderland feel more or less real than other dream worlds, like Oz (in the 1939 film of Wizard of Oz) or Neverland (depending on which version of Peter Pan is examined)? Are they disappointed to not know the end of the story, or is Alice in Wonderland like the caucus race, which starts and leaves off anywhere it wants?
