    Sojourner Truth’s Rhetorical Situation

    Objective:

    Students will be able to identify the rhetorical situation of the speech.

    Common Core Standards:

    CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RI.9-10.2, CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RI.9-10.6

    Structure:

    Before the class starts, put up some butcher paper around the classroom, enough that each student will have a place to write. Then, to begin the activity, have students spend about three minutes (time them) writing as much as they know about the context of Sojourner Truth’s speech on the butcher paper.
