Part 1: Choosing a topic

Students should choose from the following topics:

1. Origins of the "Lost Cause of the Confederacy"

2. Present-day manifestations of the "Lost Cause of the Confederacy"

3. Haitian Revolution

4. Anti-miscegenation laws in the United States

5. Faulkner criticism and major points of contention

Part 2: Preliminary Research
