Candor

Honesty and straightforwardness. Being frank with someone.

Dementia

A chronic mental illness usually afflicting the elderly. Symptoms can include memory loss and the inability to perform regular functions.

Taboo

Something that is forbidden in society. Certain actions people may not be allowed to do or certain things they cannot speak about.

Infidelity

Cheating on your spouse or loved one. The act of being unfaithful.

Status Quo

The norms and traditions that are accepted in society. Social actions/statuses that are considered acceptable.

Abortion

The deliberate termination of a pregnancy by removing the fetus from the mother's womb. The fetus cannot survive outside of the womb at this time.

Consciousness

The capacity to recognize and reflect about one's own existence and experiences. In many of his stories, Abe delves into the nature of consciousness and self-awareness.
