Louis Hughes
Louis Hughes was a black man who was a MC Gehee slave. He was leased to work in the Alabama State Salt Works. He was very industrious and had many talents; and was thus very important to his master for he was a prized butler. He was a nurse and he was a successful businessman even in the era of slavery. His boss, Benjamin Wolsey, helped him start off his business of selling tobacco plugs; even though he was a slave, he was regarded very highly.
Cornelia MC Donald
She was a widow whose husband had died in the Civil War. Cornelia was left with seven children, of whom she was the bread winner. Times were hard those days and as such, she struggled to provide for them such that she became very frail.
John Robertson
John was previously in the army ads he had come home seeking divine intervention, for he wanted to confess his sins which included killing of Yankees in the battlefield. He therefore searched for spirituality in church after church until he found it. John was very racist for he hated black people and wished that he wouldn't see them.
Samuel Agnew
Samuel was a church minister who had not been conscripted in the war as a result. He was very committed to the word of God and took dangerous trips with the risk of meeting the Yankee Army just so that he could minister to his flock in their homes.
