Structure:

Leper Lepellier may be suffering from what today we would call Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, or PTSD, which commonly afflicts veterans. Have students read this article from the Mayo Clinic, which lists some of the symptoms of PTSD: negativity, changes in emotional reactions, being easily startled or frightened, or re-experiencing the traumatic event. Then have students practice their close reading skills by re-reading Chapter 10 of and find specific examples from the text of these symptoms.
