A People's History of the United States Background

A People's History of the United States is the sort of book that you don't see in traditional literature, because it would have been banned, burned, or outright not published. Rather than taking the more "politically correct" approach at political scientist, non-fiction author Howard Zinn instead writes this book as if a common citizen was writing it. Instead of writing events from an elite's point of view, Zinn takes a down-to-earth approach that would be seen from a poor to middle-class citizen.

Howard Zinn was an American historian and writer, among other things. He is most well-known for his book A People's History of the United States, which was published in 1980. Zinn had many socialist reform ideas, which were and are very controversial. He is also popular for criticizing the nation, as it is governed unfairly, despite claims. Zinn passed away in 2010.
