Jhana's mother who works full time as a teacher, and the object of Bill's affections. She works hard to keep everything together and ignores her own loneliness.
Bill
A grad student boarder at Maddie and Jhana's house, Bill is struggling to be a poet. He has feelings for Maddie that he is afraid to act on.
King
Jhana's estranged father and Maddie's ex. King is a professional Elvis impersonator who is becoming tired of his gig and doing the same song and dance.
