woyzeck and naturalism

Buechner anticipates the naturalist movement in Woyzeck through his celebration of animals as noble and free. The play takes a dim view of human society and considers it a corrupting influence. Thus animals, in particular in the fair, are shown to be at least equal to humans and in many ways superior.
