why is one-eye important?

One-Eye is father to White Fang who is killed by a lynx when White Fang is still a cub. One-Eye gives us White Fang's lineage as well as context into the harsh unforgiving conditions of the natural world. One-Eye’s story gives us much needed information about the habits and character of different animals.
