How does this final chapter help explain the father's behavior at the end of "In a Strangers Yard"?
Book name: "When the emperor was Divine"
Chapter 5
Book name: "When the emperor was Divine"
Chapter 5
In the final chapter, we understand why the father is a broken man, resentful of everyone. The father's confession is ludicrous, a reaction to the way he's been treated. He has no home, no job, and no prospects..... his life is essentially over because of preposterous accusation that at this point.... may as well be true. In the fourth chapter, we see the father as a shell of the man he once was, unrecognizable even to his children. In the final chapter, we see a man who has given up.... he simply wants to be left alone.
