Modernity

Kant wrote a short essay in 1984 entitled: “What is Enlightenment?” He argued that enlightenment is nothing but reasoning about what we do in public life, and that reasoning is exercised by the individual himself. Kant says that the nature and content of modernization depends on our individual definitions of enlightenment. Thus, according to Kant, enlightenment is man’s release stems from the courage to use his own reason.
