Comment on Auden's choice of Breughel's Icarus to illustrate the theme of indifference and suffering in 'Musee des beaux arts'.

I think people saw Icarus suffering and did nothing to help him. That sun was hot on wax! The myth of Icarus shows a great deal of how people see and do not see others suffering.
