Act 2, Scene 2. Volpone likes to disguise himself and does so on multiple occasions. Disguise is a way of hiding your true self. It couples his immorality with his imagination. As a thematic bonus, in this scene he introduces himself to Celia, imitating a mountebank, a faker. Making some money AND getting her hanky.
