Vanka

Character irony

Is there any situation where there is Character irony in this story? I have to write about it in my English class but I can't seem to find an instance where there is Charater irony

The reader can see how Vanka's life in Moscow is an example of irony as he is leading a miserable life even though he was sent there to improve his life and to be independent.
