¿Qué relación existe entre el consumo y la felicidad?

In a Brave New World, consumerism is considered integral to economic stability. People are conditioned from a young age to want the newest, most advanced technology.... things don't get repaired, they get replaced.

"Ending is better than mending. The more stitches, the less riches..." (pg. 52)

People are judged by the things they own.... the newest and greatest, are thus, seen as a source of happiness. The people of the "New World" are uneducated and denied knowledge, thus, they never learn enough to question their own actions.
