Although this is a question of opinion, I can very well explain mine. The ability to think is what makes us human. My looks may be a contributing factor to how I am perceived by the outside world, but my personality and expression of thought are what make me understood on a deeper level. No one can truly form a relationship with another based solely on appearance, or else they are simply ignoring the complete picture. Individuality is a necessary part of creating culture, personal accomplishments, and great intellectual and artistic achievements. Another factor in this question is that beauty, happiness, health, and prosperity are all relative. Perception is all based on thought, and everyone has a different opinion on what makes you "attractive". To say you must give up your ability to think independently in order to be perceived by a group seems somewhat counterproductive. How are you to be happy if you don't have the individual knowledge or understanding of what being happy legitimately is? As for beauty, that term applies to both physical appearance and internal well-being. Therefore, without individual thought, there is a lack of potential beauty. Being healthy and rich is also based on how you are measuring its effects. If I could only be rich in exchange for my ability to think independently, I wouldn't be aware of everything I'm missing out on in the world, blinded by a lack of character and uniqueness. I'd rather choose to be the ugliest girl in the world if it meant I could keep what makes me human: my inimitable conscience. Again, this is just my opinion!!!
