What are the first hints of coming trouble that Captain Smollett sees?

Captain Smollett is unhappy that he hasn't been given the details of the voyage, hasn't been allowed to choose his own men for the journey, and that the first mate was too friendly with the crew he was supposed to supervise. Lastly, Smollett was never told they were going on a hunt for treasure..... soemthing that would definitely compund the danger involved.
