How do you think the pirate crew might have responded if Pew were a more considerate leader? Why?

Pew is the blind man that visits the Admiral Benbow, and he is later trampled by horses. His violent and angry behavior created chaos, and when the riders approached.... they simply abandoned him. In my opinion, the end result wouldn't change, only because I don't believe that any of the pirates would have put themselves in danger to save him.
