We know that Jim is a boy working at an Inn. The book begins with the narrator, Jim Hawkins, explaining his motive for telling this story: Squire Trelawney, Dr. Livesey, and other gentlemen have requested him to write down the details his experience with Treasure Island, since the treasure remains on the island.
