What does Edwin and Garvey learn in Touching Spirit Bear?

I am writing an essay on what Cole Mathews learned, Peter Driscal, and Edwin/ Garvey learn in the Touching Spirit. I can't find what Edwin and Garvey learned. Thanks for the help!

I would think that they learned to trust their instincts. The knew Cole had a chance to make it. Despite Cole's failures both Edwin and Garvey knew Cole had it in him to change. They gave Cole the chances to change even when others had given up on him.
