To Kill a Mockingbird
Why does scout ask atticus about defending tom robinson?
The guy he is defending
The guy he is defending
Scout knows that something is going on in the town. She has heard rumblings, from the white community, that her father is doing something unconscionable: he is defending a black man. Atticus also wants to prepare Scout for the trouble she will encounter from other kids and adults who don't believe Tom Robinson deserves a fair trial.
