To Kill a Mockingbird
Who really killed Bob Ewell?
We are led to believe by the popular consensus that Boo killed Ewell, but take into consideration that maybe it was the sheriff for the good of Maycomb?
Just a theory.

It was obviously harrambe.

no it was Ewell himself he fell on his knife i dont think Boo killed him i think he set him up
"I never heard tell that it’s against the law for a citizen to do his utmost to prevent a crime from being committed, which is exactly what he did, but maybe you’ll say it’s my duty to tell the town all about it and not hush it up. Know what’d happen then? All the ladies in Maycomb includin’ my wife’d be knocking on his door bringing angel food cakes. To my way of thinkin’, Mr. Finch, taking the one man who’s done you and this town a great service an’ draggin’ him with his shy ways into the limelight — to me, that’s a sin. It’s a sin and I’m not about to have it on my head. If it was any other man, it’d be different. But not this man, Mr. Finch.”
In this quote, Mr Tate says "...knocking on his door bringing angel food cakes." Who else is there with their own door other than boo? It cannot be the Finch's door because he is talking to Mr. Finch and he said: "his door" not "your door" therefore it was none of the finches who killed Bob.
Also the one who killed Bob had "...shy ways..." who has shy ways other than Boo? Not Mr Tate, there is no mention to him being shy in the whole book.
Lastly, the book is called: To kill a Mockingbird. Clearly Tom Robinson is one of the mockingbirds, but here Mr. tate is refering to boo as a mockingbird. He said: "an’ draggin’ him with his shy ways into the limelight — to me, that’s a sin."
"Shoot all the blue jays you want, if you can hit 'em, but remember it's a sin to kill a mockingbird." That was the only time I ever heard Atticus say it was a sin to do something, and I asked Miss Maudie about it. "Your father's right," she said. "Mockingbirds don't do one thing except make music for us to enjoy."

In the book, it is said that Boo Radley's skin was pale white and greasy with no mention of blood on it. Heck Tate was able to recieve a telephone call from his office. Jem at that time was still too frail and weak to even play football.
Boo Radley killed Bob Ewell with a knife. I think it's obvious.
Boo Radley killed him. He shoved a knife into the rib cage of Bob Ewell.
Its simple, boo radly used his mighty ghost cock to floor ewell to the ground, proceding to fluch his urethre with nigger ass. Jem became horny, so did scout. They ran to the chicken coup and had sex with all of the chickens. It was great...

Heck Tate killed Bob Ewell because if you go back to the book, Scout says that during the attack she smelled alcohol meaning the Bob Ewell was drunk (as always). Heck Tate demonstrates how Bob fell on his knife with a switchblade. Atticus asks Tate where he got the knife at and Mr. Tate said that he got it from a drunk man earlier that night. If you think about it if you were going to attack someone would you carry a kitchen knife or a switchblade... you would choose a switchblade because no one could see it. This means that Bob has the switchblade. When Jem screamed, Mr. Tate grabbed a kitchen knife and ran outside. After everyone left the scene, Mr. Tate jabbed Bob with the kitchen knife and took the switchblade. Tampering with evidence
The book
Whether should we think that Boo Radley killed Bob Ewell? Imagen you’re a person that got into trouble and was forbidden to go out of the house in the day time because that was your punishment. And there are people that are rumoring hideous things about you saying you stabbed someone with scissors and that you go around watching people in their sleep in the dark and that you eat cats and many more malicious rumors. when really all you want is a friend even if they are 2 children. Your strolling around your house in the dark and the two children you know are being attacked you try run to them and with much you yank the attacker away with much effort because you have very little strength they stumble and try to attack you but you shove them away they stumble and fall and don’t get up then with a great amount of effort you carry one of the injured children to their home. While you’re there the sheriff says nonsenses stuff that makes you seem like a murderer who killed the attacker. What would you feel? What would you do? We can all agree that Boo was at the scene of the murder. Some people say that Boo stabbed Bob Ewell with his own kitchen knife but this is wrong because Boo would not have tried to cut scout with a knife and it says that the costume saved scout because there was a slash marks. Boo Radley was not guilty of murdering Bob Ewell. Here are some proofs 1 it is very difficult for someone, in this case “Bob”, to run or walk fast without tripping on a rock in the morning, afternoon or night. Now Bob ran towards the children with rocks and roots and other inconveniences in the dark while fighting Jem. They were also under a big tree with roots that would make it very impenetrable not to trip. And Bob was kicking and fighting in the dark and no one had night vision to see the rocks and roots. 2 Bob Ewell was drunk while rustling with Jem, scout and boo in the dark night. When you’re drunk you take a long time to do things, you keep an inconsistent pace, and Stumble when you walk. Bob was drunk and would have done all of those actions making him way more prone to falling on his own knife When Bob was drunk he tried to do something that he probably never would have done if he was sober. He tried to kill two children he tried to take the life of kids to get revenge for being humiliated. 3 Boo Radley was not a strong and healthy man. Boo Radley didn’t work in the fields he didn’t cut wood with an axe he didn’t work to survive. Bob did bob needed to work to eat and survive meaning Bob was a strong man and even drunk men are strong. Boo wouldn’t be strong enough to fight a strong drunk farmer he wouldn’t be strong enough Boo was forbidden to go outside in the day and at night he wouldn’t be cutting wood cause that would wake people up he wouldn’t be plowing fields because he couldn’t and he wouldn’t be very healthy for not going out in the sun and he was very sensitive to light which would be why he was standing in the dark behind the door. Some people say that we should think that Boo Radley killed Bob because Boo is known for stabbing people with scissors. And nobody really knows him making him more mysterious and evil and he has a bad reputation he had to have stabbed bob. But this is not true because first of all it was a rumor that boo stabs people with scissors there has been no medical there has been no medical evidence that Boo had done such a thing and it was Miss Stephanie Crawford who said Boo stabbed his parent and we know for fact that Miss Stephanie is a Gossip Queen and she doesn’t have any knowledge of that from the court. Boo wasn’t a mysterious and evil guy people just herd to many malicious rumors about him. Boo may have had a bad reputation but it wasn’t for killing people. Boo Radley is not guilty of murdering Bob Ewell with a kitchen knife for three reasons 1 it is very difficult for someone, in this case bob, to walk or to run fast without tripping on a rock or root in the morning, afternoon or night. 2 Bob was drunk when he was rustling with the children 3 Boo Radley was not a strong and healthy man This matters to Jem and scout because Boo is there friend and hero
to kill a mockingbird and a 14 year old girl me
PEOPLE PEOPLE. Jem couldn't have killed Bob, mainly cause he was unconscious at the time. And quite frankly, I howly doubt that Jem would have the stregnth to kill a man much bigger than him at the time. I feel as if Boo may have done it. But only out of defense. He seems like Bob's size, he was the one that carried Jem to the house (So he had to be at the scene), and lastly JEM WAS UNCONSCOUS. I just feel maybe Boo did it. Or maybe Bob may have done it himself.
No Boo killed Ewell because Ewell was a complete a**hole.

Has anyone thought of it being tom. It was dark and no one saw anything. It had to mean that toms ghost was the one who killed mr ewell. And what better weapon than with the stereotypical kitchen knife. Seriously guys it’s not boo.
1. Arthur (Boo) Radley might have followed them a distance to make sure they were safe after hearing the town gossip about Bob Ewell threatening Atticus Finch. Near the beginning of Chapter 28, "Jem said, 'Boo must not be home. Listen.'"
2. During the brief struggle, it is written that "Suddenly he was jerked backwards and flung on the ground, almost carrying me with him." Even if Jem had gotten up in time, it's hard to believe that a boy around the age of 13 yanked up a little man and threw him, almost along with his victim of strangling.
3. In the last sentence of Chapter 30, Atticus states, "Thank you for my children, Arthur." Atticus, being the quick-minded lawyer, probably understood from Scout's version of the occurrence and also Heck Tate's explanation that it was Arthur.
"To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee
I killed Bob Ewell
Have any of you actually read the book? \Because if you did the only possible culprits are Boo, the sheriff and Bob Ewell himself.
Although I believe that the only real culprits are the sheriff and Bob Ewell.
Boo Radley killed him. The Sheriff was there protecting the children as he had sniffed sometihing, but Radley beat him to it.
When Jem and Scout are attacked on their way home from the festival, Jem has his arm severely broken. He is not able to defend himself or Scout. Scout tells Atticusand the sheriff,
"Somebody was staggerin' around and pantin' and--- coughing fit to die. I thought it was Jem at first, but it didn't sound like him, so I went lookin' for Jem on the ground. I thought Atticus had come to help us and had got wore out..." (pg 270)
She saw a person carrying Jem toward the house. She points at a man behind the door and identifies him as the person who helped the two children. It was Boo Radley.
The sheriff had already told Atticus that Bob Ewell was dead. He was under some trees with a kitchen knife stuck just under his ribs. For some reason, Atticus thinks Jem killed Bob Ewell. He somehow got the knife out of Bob's hands and used it against him. He talks to the sheriff about pleading self-defense in court for Jem. Mr. Tate clarifies the situation
"Jem never stabbed Bob Ewell." (pg 272)
Sheriff Tate then goes on to tell Atticus that he is going to write this up as Bob Ewell falling on his knife. Atticus objects stating that he doesn't want his son to grow up with this crime hanging over his head. He wants him to face it straight on. Sheriff Tate then explains to Atticus that it wasn't Jem who killed Bob Ewell. He never says the person's name, but it is strongly inferred that Boo Radley did the deed. The sheriff is going to write it up as Bob Ewell falling on his knife because,
"Mr. Finch, taking the one man who's done you and this town a great service and draggin' him with his shy ways into the limelight ---to me that's a sin.....If it was any other man it'd be different. But not this man, Mr. Finch." (pg 276)
Sheriff Tate is talking about Boo Radley. Boo came to the aid of the children and made sure that Jem was brought home for medical care. He was the man carrying Jem home.
After the sheriff leaves, Atticus tells Scout that what they are going to say is that Bob Ewell fell on his knife so that Boo would not be bothered with people wanting to thank him and honor him for saving the children. He asks her if she understands. She assures him that she does.
"Well, it'd be sort of like shootin' a mockingbird, wouldn't it?" (pg 276)
Atticus had earlier told her she should never shoot a mockingbird because,
"Mockingbirds don't do one thing but make music for us to enjoy....they don't do one thing but sing their hearts out for us. That's why it's a sin to kill a mockingbird." (pg 90)
Boo did nothing wrong. He protected the children and his life did not need to be turned upside down for being so kind.
At the of Chapter 30, Atticus said to Boo Radley,
h
the switchblade Tate had at the end is the exact one Boo put in the knothole. Jem didn't kill him that much is obvious but let's not forget that Bob brought the knife and was drunk. What's not to say that all Boo did was push him, if Boo dud anything resulting in his death at all. its likely that both possibilities happened
It couldn't have been Mr. Heck Tate, because, the last thing he says to Atticus is: "I never heard tell that it's against the law for a citizen to do his utmost to prevent a crime from being committed, which is exactly what he did, but maybe you'll say it's my duty to tell the town all about it and not hush it up. Know what'd happen then? All the ladies in Maycomb includin' my wife'd be knocking on his door bringing angel food cakes.
