What role does religion play in Scout's life and how does she feel about heaven and hell?

Scout never really mentions, as I recall, much about going to church with Atticus and Jem. Certainly church would be a cornerstone for most people in Maycomb; folks were expected to be Christian. Atticus seems too rational and introspective to fit in with the average church member in Maycomb. Certainly people like Mrs. Meriwether would dissuade any of the Finch family from attending church. Scout and Jem visit The first Purchase Church with Calpurnia. It is a black church and both children are impressed with the community the witness. I don't think the concept of Heaven and Hell is on Scout's mind. She, like her father, is a little too rational in matters of religion.
