What is Tom's story about the "rape"?

Tom's story is the truth. He went into the house at Mayella's request to help her with something. He denies that Mayella asked him to chop up the chiffarobe..... he denies the story thus told, and we can infer that Mayella had something else on her mind. Tom didn't rape Mayella, he ran away from her. He knew the precarious position he was in, and he took off..... the appearance of Mr. Ewell had nothing to do with it.
