How does Atticus answer all of Jem and Scout's questions about Tom Robinson and any appeal he my recieve?

Atticus says that the town just needs time to progress and that they knew Ewell's guilt. Atticus adds that he is confident he can win on appeal because the case is so clearly in favour of Tom.
