To Kill a Mockingbird
Compare Jem and Atticus.
Father to son.
Father to son.
Atticus is doing his best to raise Jem by giving him a strong role model which will show him the kind of man he wants to become when Jem himself grows up. Atticus is fair minded, honest, and values all human be ings; Jem is trying to be like his father, but he finds that to emulate such a good man can be difficult. Jem is going through some of the typical "teenaged" difficulties; we do not see as much of his life because the story is told from Scout's point of view.
