Both the mockingbird and the mad dog are symbols based on what you have read so far, what or who do each represent in the book?

The mad dog is a symbol of racism, as well as the madness that leaves Atticus and his family unsafe after the trial. Mr. Ewell is an example of a mad dog.

The mockingbird represents true goodness and innocence that should always be protected. Boo and Tom are mockingbirds.
