Lee characterizes Aunt Alexandra as a pious woman, completely obsessed with her position and standing in the community. She portrays her as judgmental, bossy, and somewhat manipulative. Aunt Alexandra is also predisposed to judging people by their names... she's under the impression that the name makes the person, rather than the person makes their name.
