1. Why did Atticus accept the Tom Robinson case so quickly?

Atticus knows that Tom is innocent and that he must provide protection for him. Atticus really believes in the law and that the law must stand against racism. Defending Tom to the best of his ability is the right thing to do: It is the only thing to do.
