Who comes to see Atticus at the beginning of the movie? Why does Atticus tell Scout not to call for him next time?

In the movie version Mr. Cunningham comes to pay Atticus with nuts. Mr. Cunningham is embarrassed to have to pay his bill in this form. Atticus doesn't want Scout to bring added attention to him.
