What happend to Harries in the Maze?How did he finally get out of it?

Once lost in the maze, Harris insisted if they went back and started from the beginning they'd be able to follow the map...... he was wrong, although they attempted it more than once. Then, the group yelled for help, and one of the younger keepers got lost trying to rescue them. Finally, well after dinner, an older keeper got them out. Harris' response to the afternoon.....

"Harris said he thought it was a very fine maze, so far as he was a judge; and we agreed that we would try to get George to go into it, on our way back."
