Okonkwo has a really hard time showing Ezinma the affection he feels for her because he feels it makes him look weak. My reaction would have been to spend days on my knees in thanksgiving; if I were Ekwefi I would be well aware of my special place with my husband (i deserted my first husband for him you know!), and I would know the special place that our only child had in both of our lives.
