Why did mole cry out in chapter 1?

Here is a quote from Ch 1,

It was small wonder, then, that he suddenly flung down his brush on the floor, said 'Bother!' and 'O blow!' and also 'Hang spring-cleaning!' and bolted out of the house without even waiting to put on his coat.

He was just tired of whitewashing and spring cleaning. 

As the Mole was tired in Spring cleaning and there was a long period of he was working so he decided to start his advetures
