Chapter one

The book tries to not be specific about a time period setting so that it can be appreciated for the ideas rather than the era. Still, there are a few clues that it is based in the 1960's. There is an emphasis on the "Bic" pen, which was introduced, in the late 1960's. There is also Mr. Ross using a filmstrip reel to show his movie.
