Anita Desai is the author of The Village by the Sea.

Anita Desai was born in 1937,in Mussourie, and educated in Delhi. She has written a number of short stories and several novels such as bye-bye blackbird and where shall we go this summer. She was awarded the guardian children's fiction prize for her novel, the village by the Sea.
