Describe an event that finally compel Hari to go to Bombay. Had his have journey had a positive effect on him? Explain

I believe the final straw before Hari's departure was the posioning of the family dog. Supposedly, their neighbor threatened to kill the dog is they didn't come up with the money their father owed the man. I wouldn't say that Hari's journey had a positive effect, but quickly learned about hunger, exhastion, and worry on his trip to Bombay.
