Why did Baldwin and McGinty swore vengence upon Birdy Edward and how sucessful were they in their attempts.

"They had sworn an oath on all that they thought holy to have his blood as a vengeance for their comrades."

After many attempts they were not successful. Birdy Edwards moved on changing his name along the way and successfully alluding the men who wanted his life.
