The short-story, The Sound Machine, is a fictional story. In context, science has looked at this topic but remains undecided. Some scientists believe that plants can feel pain (distress) and have defense mechanisms. Others claim that without brains and nociceptors, plants cannot feel pain. As for me.... I certainly hope that they do not feel pain. What do you think?
