The Silver Sword

Explain how each of the characters was associated with the theme of hope. Remember to use evidence and at least one event from the text.

The main theme in the silver sword by Ian Serraillier is hope. This is discovered all over the story. The hope the Balicki’s are going to get out of Warsaw. The hope that they are going to all survive. The hope that they will make it in the end. The hope that they will find their parents. The hope that the war will end. As you can see from that, there is a lot of hoping going on. The hope is the one thing that keeps the characters going every day. Without the hope of a happily ever after, the characters would give up, leaving them in a very bad situation. The characters would perish without those glimpses of hope, no matter how small the glimpse might be. The characters found hope in the strangest places, no matter where that may be. Explain how each of the characters was associated with the theme of hope. Remember to use evidence and at least one event from the text.
