Is Walter Mitty an interesting person? Is his life significant? Why or why not?

I don't find Walter interesting. Walter Mitty is by turns a hen-pecked husband, an inept man, and a heroic daydreamer. Since he is constantly met with frustration and embarrassment in his real, everyday life, he takes to imagining himself in various colorful roles, earning the respect and adoration of others. His personas are: hydroplane commander, star surgeon, crack shot on trial, WWI captain, and condemned man on the firing line. All of these escapades exist in his imagination as a crutch to avoid his reality.
