Certainly words are intertwined with summer and autumn. There is a "bleeding tree" which oozes sap. In the decaying garden there is "brown magnolias" and "overgrown weeds". The gothic imagery of blooming "graveyard flowers...speaking softly the names of our dead" really comes to mind.
