what was the issues thorugh the poem that made the mariner appreciate life ?

Realize that we are all gods creatures and that we are to be respected and loved. To respect life and nature and not take it for granted.

The actual issues included having a giant albatross strung around his neck by his own crew.He got lost in raging sea storms as his crew died one by one until they turned into ghosts. The Mariner was thirsty, hungry and tormented. In the end the Mariner finally understood that life, especially one of an albatross, was indeed precious.
