The Rime of the Ancient Mariner
Lines 119-122 are quoted often. Why?
Water, water, everywhere,
and all the boards did shrink;
water, water, everywhere,
nor any drop to drink
Water, water, everywhere,
and all the boards did shrink;
water, water, everywhere,
nor any drop to drink
The meaning is that we often think we have it all and we are often surrounded by what we think we need. Yet, what we are surrounded by does not satisfy the very need that we believe we have. This is a real life lesson for many of us.
