If I understand it correctly, this statement is false. Although the lieutenant is in the youth's company, it was the captain--not the youth--who bandaged his wounded hand. Here's the quote from the story:
"The captain of the company, tucking his sword under his arm, produced a handkerchief and began to bind with it the lieutenant's wound. And they disputed as to how the binding should be done."
