Chapter 20: Early in the novel, Henry's mother calls him a "damn fool"? Has he done anything to disprove her? Explain.

I don't know who to thank anymore...
No need to thank! In many ways Henry does realize how foolish he was when he joined the war. His view of heroism and adventure was that of a little boy's. Still Henry does change as a result of the war. He becomes a man with insight and passion. So, in a sense, he does prove his mother wrong. She was right about his initial reasons for joining but she couldn't have known that her son would live and be better man for it.
