Socs is short for "Socials". This group (gang) is made up of wealthy, popular kids.

The Socs short for the term "Socials" are the wealthy children. They live on the west side of town but are very unappreciative of the privilages they have. They love to listen to The Beatles and love to drive Mustangs and Corvairs.
