Ponyboy remembers a poem written by Robert Frost that he recites to Johnny. Offer an interpretation of Frost's words. (chapter 6)
Frost's poem "Nothing Gold Can Stay" focuses on the idea that what we see today in its new beauty and its innocence (the use of the word green, as shown in the green of spring) cannot last. They Greasers have two members who still seem innocent, and they want to keep those boys innocent in the future. Ponyboy uses the metaphors in the poem to show how he wants things to change, but he is aware that they may not be able to change.
